Snail Mail & Lettergirl Giveaway

I love snail mail - stamps, envelopes, something handwritten, a trip to the mail box - I'm completely smitten. If I could handle one more thing in my life, I'd add a pen pal.

My son, Henry (5), and I have a fun tradition that I want to tell you about. Nearly every week we choose a friend or family member to send a letter to. We have so much fun drawing pictures, writing a love note, choosing an envelope/stamp, packaging it all up, and walking down to the mailbox to send it off. And then, of course, there is the anticipation that builds as we watch the mail in hopes of something in return. And the thrill of happy mail if our friends respond. This has become some of our best time together. (And a sneaky way to get him to practice a little penmanship :)

So today, to encourage you to start a snail mail tradition of your very own, we have a super fun giveaway, brought to you by Gina of Lettergirl, who makes handlettered address stamps (among other charming things):

Look at that lovely penmanship

The prize: winner’s choice of a handlettered address stamp, bookplate stamp, or gift tag stamp in traditional red rubber mounted on a wood block.

You guys! A handlettered address stamp?? Think of the darling parcels you could be sending off!

Get acquainted with Gina's other handlettered creations in her Lettergirl Etsy shop. And get acquainted with her at her blog, Rich Inner Life.

To enter: leave a comment.

If you're all aflutter over those address stamps (like I am) and you want an extra entry - tell your friends about the giveaway (twitter, facebook, blog, etc). Only one extra entry per person; leave an extra comment for the extra entry.

Good Luck! Winner announced Friday morning!

I've been working on trying to remain a letter/card person for years. I love real mail. This is darling!!

I agree. Going to the mailbox and finding a handwritten letter or a handwritten note in a card is the next best thing to a personal, in-person visit. It certainly beats those email "forwards" I get (and send: Guilty!)

A Lettergirl stamp has been on my wishlist for a while. Love, love, love them.

I love the tradition you have with your son. A few weeks ago my parent's put a letter in their letterbox for my 22 month old son. He loves to check their letterbox when he visits. He was so happy and excited when he came inside with an envelope just for him! My Mum, who doesn't have a crafty bone in her body made him a card and he still treasures it today.
