I know--I know. It's not even Thanksgiving and I'm already talking about Christmas! I get sort of annoyed about the pre-lit tree display in Costco before Halloween too, but hear me out.
I happen to be expecting a bouncing baby boy to arrive about 3 days before Christmas this year. So in an effort to have some kind of festive holiday while still maintaining my sanity-- I am getting started early! I really hate rushing around at the last minute to get Christmas put together when what I want to be doing is spending cozy time with my family doing important things like eating, and having movie marathons. Although this year it will more likely be things like eating and sitting around staring at a new baby...way more entertaining.
Frankly, a chubby new little cherub might be all the reminder we need about why we are celebrating this Christmas, but I have a two and a half year-old who is pretty enamored with all things festive so I came up with a few little crafts to make sure our home will be sparkly and bright this Christmas season.
I'm kind of in love with Matryoshka Dolls and so I stitched up this little girl for my little girl, as part of what I am vowing to make a yearly homemade ornament tradition. (Setting myself up for failure? Quite possibly.)

Nubby yarn ornaments...these satisfy both my need to have indestructible, child safe ornaments on at least the bottom 3 feet of our tree, and my love of yarn all in one pop.

It may seem early but I promise its not too soon to get Christmas crafting! It will give you more time for cookies and hot cider. I promise. Or I might even let you come nibble on my baby if you'd rather;)

We're finishing up on farmhouse table that we got the plans for on Ana White. I guess that was more of a project for Thanksgiving than Christmas. Maybe after we finish that one up this weekend I'll start thinking about Christmas crafting.

Okay, I made yarn trees last year and they were terrible. I'll be redoing them more like yours. And I'll use the left over yarn to make the ornaments. Thanks for the great ideas!

So adorable!!! I think I am Baker recently posted cookies that look like those nesting dolls and I just bought my daughter a shirt with a nesting doll on it at Carter's.
