Oh, it's a lovely day for Bloom. A lovely day indeed. Katy Dill, shop keeper of Sew Apropos, is giving away one of her wonderful "neck adornments." If you're not familiar with Katy, you should hop on over to her delightful blog and get fully acquainted. (Really, you'll be glad.)
But for now, here's a biographical bit about Katy. When I asked her to share a little about herself, she sent me this fabulous Pearl Buck quote, saying it sums her up quite nicely:
The truly creative mind in any field is no more than this: A human creature born abnormally, inhumanely sensitive. To them... a touch is a blow, a sound is a noise, a misfortune is a tragedy, a joy is an ecstasy, a friend is a lover, a lover is a god, and failure is death.
Add to this cruelly delicate organism the overpowering necessity to create, create, create -- so that without the creating of music or poetry or books or buildings or something of meaning, their very breath is cut off...
They must create, must pour out creation. By some strange, unknown, inward urgency they are not really alive unless they are creating.
Who wouldn't want those words to sum them up? Lovely.
And in her own words, Katy says:
I've beaded and sewn since I was a little girl. I even used to crochet during recess (though I've since forgotten how). Creation is very important to me. My parents are artists and it was always encouraged, messes and all. I wish my sewing machine had an odometer on it so I could know how many miles I've sewn. I love it all. I must keep my hands busy to be happy. Opening an Etsy shop seemed like the perfect outlet for my creative surges.

Just lovely. I am pregnant with baby #3 and trying really hard to dress pretty (er?) each day to help me feel better. Nausea is still nausea, but hey, when you look pretty, it helps. I am glad to find a new blog to read. And if Katy Dill sent us here, I am so very glad. Nice to meet you Bloom!
Cream of Asparagus has my name written all over it. Crossing my fingers...
Love them all! The one with the white flowers is my favorite. Pick me please :)
I know how she feels, needing to create. I sew, crochet, knit, bead... I even like woodworking, quilting, any kind of crafts. My problem is that I have a short attention span, so I have to keep my projects relatively small. Anyway, I love those necklaces! They're beautiful.
love these, hope I win!
