Mister Seahorse by Eric Carle
I'll let Mr. Carle tell you in his own words why this beautifully illustrated picture book is so perfect for Dad's Day:
"Dear Friends, In most fish families, after the mother has laid the eggs and the father has fertilized them, the eggs are left on their own. But there are exceptions such as the seahorse, stickleback, tilapia, Kurtus nurseryfish, pipefish, bullhead catfish, and some others. Not only are the eggs cared for by a parent but--surprise--that parent is the father. And this is my story about them. I hope you enjoy my story."
It is presh beyond belief and a must have!

I mentioned this book in last year's Fathers' Day post. This is essentially the all-time classic handbook for fun. Complete with instructions on making paper airplanes, recognizing constellations, building treehouses, and on and on! Bye-bye video games, hello adventures with Dad!

And speaking of dads, have you seen this one on the (national!) news yet? AWESOME.
Happy Weekend!

These are great ideas, thanks! We got our Dad some really fun owl bookends this year - and I've been trying to decide what to put between them -- gift cert. to his favorite audible.com (he listens to books as he bikes to work) or a photo book of the kids, or something else - these are great ideas. Hmm...maybe we'll just have to sandwich a few books between those owls ;)
ReplyDeleteLove those books! After looking for Father's Day ideas on the web, this is the one that hit a home run for me. I think adding the "Dangerous" book would be perfect! We'll be doing it for sure!

What a fun father's day idea! I love the "Dangerous" book, it's so perfect for daddy/son activities. Around our house, we love the books that dad can make funny voices with. A current favorite is The Three Little Fish & the Bid Bad Shark by Ken Geist.
